How to replace a breaker hammer
Rolls are available in a variety of surface configurations to suit different application requirements. The clasp or expansion ring usually holds the toothpick in the bit retainer. When the bit/pick needs to be replaced, remove the clasp and remove the bit/pick from the bracket. The process of installing a new drill/pick is reversed.
How to check/adjust chain tension?
feeder chains on feeder breaker operate very efficiently, with slack on the return side. Check the tension at the chain return shaft at the discharge end of the machine. Keep the back chain not in tension or loose. The best condition is to let the chain relax slightly and maintain constant tension.
When the chain of the feeder breaker is tensioned, use a hydraulic hand pump to pump oil/grease into the access cylinders on either side of the stern shaft. Once the oil/grease has been injected into the cylinder, the chain is held in place by steel pads. For details about how to tighten and loosen the chains, see the Installation, Operation, and Maintenance Manual.
How to change the feeder breaker chain and flight rod?
The conveyor on the feeder breaker consists of a heavy flying rod attached to a chain assembly. A mark is placed on the disassembly link to facilitate the disassembly of the conveyor chain. For details about the replacement process, see the Maintenance Manual.
How to adjust the size of feeder breaker?
Increase product size
Remove gasket from above the feeder breaker bearing seat. The amount of spacers removed will correspond to the desired increase in product size.
Lift crusher roll assembly to desired height. Insert the gasket in step 1 under the bearing seat. Motor/reducer base raised to the same height as roll assembly. Insert the appropriate shims under the motor/reducer base. Reduce product size by slightly raising the crusher roll assembly to reduce the weight of the underlying gasket. Slightly raise the motor/reducer base to reduce the weight of the shims underneath. Remove gasket from motor/reducer base. The number of spacers removed will correspond to the required reduction in product size. Feeder Breaker lower motor/reducer base to desired height. Remove the same number of shims from under the bearing seat as from under the motor/reducer base. Lower bearing block to desired height. Insert the gasket above the bearing seat in Step 5.
