The portable belt conveyor differs from the traditional fixed-type belt conveyors in its structure. Due to the presence of universal wheels at the bottom, it is highly mobile and can be pushed manually into and out of the warehouse. It features high efficiency, simple structure, adjustable height, and convenient use and maintenance. It is widely used for transporting granular materials such as sand, coal, gravel, grains, and chemical raw materials. It can also be applied to transporting various loose materials with a density of 500-2500 kg/m³ at normal temperatures.
Portable Belt Conveyor Working Principle
- The portable belt conveyor achieves continuous transportation of bulk materials such as sand, gravel, and mineral powder through friction transmission.
- The entire machine is composed of an electric drum drive unit, a circular conveyor belt, a set of idlers, a tensioning mechanism, a walking chassis, and a lifting mechanism.
- After connecting the power supply, the motor, in combination with a reducer, drives the head drive drum to rotate. A friction force is generated between the drum and the circular conveyor belt, pulling the conveyor belt to perform a closed-loop circular motion. The U-shaped idlers on the conveyor belt support the conveyor belt and the bulk materials, preventing the materials from sliding off the sides. The tail redirecting drum completes the belt redirection, and the spiral tensioning device continuously maintains the belt tension to prevent slippage during operation.
- Bulk materials are evenly dropped from the feeding guide chute onto the running conveyor belt, and are smoothly transported along the belt to the automatic discharge end at the machine head. The equipment is equipped with walking wheels at the bottom, which can be moved as a whole. The lifting mechanism can adjust the conveying inclination angle of the entire machine to adapt to different height discharge positions such as trucks, storage bins, and pits, enabling multi-point short-distance continuous loading and unloading of bulk materials.

It is mainly composed of frame, universal wheels, walking device, lifting device, drive device, idler group, conveyor belt, feed hopper/distributing chute, etc. The main frame is mostly made of steel pipes, which helps reduce weight and improve mobility. The lifting device is usually electrically operated to reduce the risks and physical demands of manual operation.

Preventing The Scattering Of Bulk Materials
The equipment is equipped with a trough-type upper idler. It lifts the conveyor belt to form a U-shaped groove. Bulk materials such as sand, gravel, mineral powder, and construction waste fall into the groove during transportation, making it less likely to scatter to both sides. Additionally, side retaining plates and head and tail guide grooves can be added as extra measures to further prevent the leakage of fine aggregates and fine aggregates from spilling out, making it suitable for the transportation of various dry and wet bulk materials.
Smooth Operation
The electric drum drives the circular belt to rotate in a circular motion through friction. The entire belt is laid flat to support the bulk materials, without any violent impacts. Fine powder and crushed stones will not be splashed due to jolts. The uniform and continuous feeding mode can stably carry a large amount of bulk materials and will not have intermittent discharging or problems of material accumulation and blockage.
Adjustable Inclination Angle
The equipment is equipped with an electrically adjustable lifting bracket. The conveying inclination angle can be adjusted from 0° to 30°. Bulk materials rely on the friction force of the belt to overcome gravity, enabling material loading at different heights such as in pits, trucks, and silos. There will be no situation where the bulk materials roll down along the inclined surface. It can also handle various scenarios of bulk material transportation on flat ground and uphill slopes.
Flexible Transition
The bottom is equipped with swivel wheels and a walking mechanism, allowing the entire machine to be moved. The material stack, crushing station, mixing station, and truck loading/unloading points can be switched at any time. There is no need for a fixed foundation. Loose bulk materials scattered in mines, construction sites, and material yards can be transported nearby.
Belt Material Options
For ordinary sand and gravel, wear-resistant rubber belts are selected; for mineral powder and wet clay, anti-slip and patterned belts can be used; for dusty bulk materials, sealing covers can be paired. Various configurations such as wear-resistant, anti-slip, and dust-proof are available to accommodate different bulk materials including dry materials, wet materials, and sticky powders.
Strong Carrying Capacity
The entire machine is equipped with thickened steel pipe frame. The idlers are densely arranged to distribute the weight of the materials, enabling it to carry large quantities of heavy bulk materials such as ores and sandstones. It is not prone to deformation and can meet the high-load continuous feeding requirements in mines and construction sites.
